Priest and KingAaron, brother of Moses, great-grandson of Levi, married Elisheba a great-great-great-grandaughter of Judah. Aaron became the first High Priest in Israel and the line of high priests descended thru his sons. Therefore, Aaron's sons, Nadab, Abihu, Eleazer, and Ithamar are descended from both the priestly and kingly lines of Israel.
Descended from Judah and David, the kingly line of Israel, Jesus is our king and also our High Priest in the Heavenly Sanctuary. It is fascinating to note that 1st generation of High Priests were also desendants of the line that would be the kings of Israel.
Jesus as seen in the sanctuary service is both the sacrifice and the High Priest. As the sacrifice He offered Himself for our sins and His blood covers us. Just as the lamb was offered on the altar and its blood taken into the Holy Place daily and the Most Holy Place yearly to both cleanse from sin (Holy Place) and remove the record of sin (Most Holy Place).
On the Day of Atonment the High Priest when clad in his goldern garments, represented Christ to the people, in his "holy garments" in which he went into the Most Holy Place, he typified Christ in His mediatorial capacity as a representative of the people before God.
Jesus is our King and our High Priest. How fitting that the first generation of High Priests were also descended from the priestly and kingly lines.
